Justin Hayward – Classic Blue (1994) (@256)
11 Apr 2010
(Review from amazon)
This is a beautiful collection and selection of songs by the voice of the Moody Blues who delivers interpretations in his own signature style with the London Philarmonic Orchestra. His plaintive vocals are crystal clear and immaculate throughout, with many a number sending a shiver up the spine as only an emotional Justin Hayward vocal can.
The album includes renditions of many hit songs, such as The Beatles’ “Blackbird”, and Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.” It also includes a re-recorded version of “Forever Autumn,” a song from Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War of the Worlds, in which Hayward originally sang lead vocals.
Other notable covers include Simon & Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair”, Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale”, Fleetwood Mac’s (Peter Green era) “Man of the World” and the infamous “MacArthur Park”.
Track List:
01. Tracks of My Tears – 3:23

I couldn’t agree with you more, Sakalli!! This album does indeed send shivers up and down my spine. But anything by Justin Hayward does and with good reason — just look at my screen name! LOL!!! But an album like this gives him an opportunity to showcase his magnificent vocal range. I love to play this album while lying on the couch, preferably in the dark and just listen to the words and the music roll over me. And this is one album where I have never been able to pick a *favorite song*. It changes every time I listen to the album. One day it may be *Vincent*, the next *MacArthur Park* and the next *Tracks of My Tears*. I know I will always love *Forever Autumn*! I truly wish there had been a follow-up to this album. So many great love songs ache for the distinctive Hayward touch. Of course, Justin’s solo albums were also wonderful. But then, would *I* say anything different????????????? :-)
